The Clarissa Street Legacy recently hosted the annual Clarissa Street Reunion in one of Rochester’s most culturally rich neighborhoods. This year’s event honored a community celebrated for producing iconic jazz musicians during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Nestled in the southwest quadrant of Rochester and the historical 3rd Ward, Clarissa Street was a melting pot that united Black, Italian, Irish, and Jewish communities. With streets once paved in cobblestone and trolley cars a common sight, the area is a treasure trove of history. The Clarissa Street Reunion, an annual highlight since 1996, joyfully revived the indelible connections and fond memories crafted in this singular neighborhood.
