The Clarissa Street Legacy recently hosted the annual Clarissa Street Reunion in one of Rochester’s most culturally rich neighborhoods. This year’s event honored a community celebrated for producing iconic jazz musicians during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Nestled in the southwest quadrant of Rochester and the historical 3rd Ward, Clarissa Street was a melting pot that united Black, Italian, Irish, and Jewish communities. With streets once paved in cobblestone and trolley cars a common sight, the area is a treasure trove of history. The Clarissa Street Reunion, an annual highlight since 1996, joyfully revived the indelible connections and fond memories crafted in this singular neighborhood. Scroll down to view the evocative images that encapsulate the spirit of this year’s remarkable celebration.
