Exchange & Ford Street Construction Project Underway

The City of Rochester & Sealand Contractors Corp. have begun a preventive maintenance project in the neighborhood. The overall project involves work along Ford Street (from S. Plymouth Avenue to the Ford Street Bridge) and Exchange Blvd. (from Ford Street to Basin Street). Work on State Street (from the Inner Loop to Lyell Avenue) will take place later during the project.

This project includes: the milling and resurfacing of the pavement surface, isolated deep pavement repairs, spot curb and hazardous sidewalk replacements, curb ramp upgrades, curb-bump outs, medians, and pedestrian refuge islands. The project also includes adjustment and repairs of manholes, receiving basins, water valve castings, and improvements to bicycle facilities. Traffic signal work improvements include new traffic cameras, pedestrian signals, and buttons, as well as the replacement of two traffic signals at Ford St and Exchange Blvd intersection, along with other minor street lighting improvementsExchange Blvd and Ford Street east of S. Plymouth Ave. Surface drainage and ride quality will be improved, which will help preserve existing investment within the pavement structure. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
