national night out 2017You are invited to join us as we celebrate the 34th annual National Night Out on August 1.

The National Night Out celebration typically has over 35 million participants across the country. The primary goal of the event is to “promote police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live.”

The two most fundamental components of the evening include: residents spending time outside in their yards or gathering areas, and neighbors turning on their outside lights in support for neighborhood watch and safety practices. Corn Hill has taken part in the celebration in the past and will once again promote this exciting and worthy cause this summer.

As in years past, the Security Committee has arranged for Bruster’s to provide ice cream for a free neighborhood wide ice cream social that night at 7:00 p.m. at Lunsford Circle Park (the gazebo). Last year’s event had over 200 people attend, including neighbors, RPD officers, and Adams Street Rec Center youths.

This year, we are again offering Block Captains the opportunity to hold smaller gatherings within each block prior to the ice cream social. This will offer a more intimate setting to meet or re connect with your most imme diate neighbors prior to the entire Corn Hill community meeting at the gazebo at 7:00. Look for fliers or emails
from your Block Captain if your block is holding an event. If you are not connected with your Block Captain,
or if you’re willing to become a Block Captain, please contact [email protected]

We hope you see this as a chance to have a fun night out in Corn Hill with your spouse, significant other,
kids, and friends. See you on August 1st, and we thank you for your diligent efforts to keep Corn Hill a safe community!
