Corn Hill Arts Festival Volunteers Needed

~ By Bill Belecz, Corn Hill Arts Festival Chair

One of the things that makes the Corn Hill Arts Festival unique is that it is one of the few festivals around that is 100% run by volunteers with all net proceeds going to support the neighborhood. As Chair, I am very fortunate to have a very dedicated, knowledgeable team working with me, as well as the many neighbors who volunteer before, during, and/or after the two-day event. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the neighborhood office at [email protected] or myself at [email protected]. As needs arise, I will also include requests for volunteers in this monthly newsletter. Each volunteer will receive a 2022 Corn Hill tee shirt and a festival poster.

Emerging Artist Exhibit

Nancy Bernola is looking for volunteers to process Emerging Artist’s payments. Two-hour shifts on Saturday or Sunday are available. Please reach out to Nancy via email, [email protected] or call me at (585) 506-5370.

Health, Safety, and Transportation

This team works together with the Rochester Police Department and Monroe Ambulance to ensure that all CHAF visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience. Each volunteer receives an ‘Official’ 2022 Corn Hill tee shirt and a 2022 commemorative festival poster.

Available Security Team volunteer shifts include:

Barricade Duty:  8:00 am – 10:00 am or 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Barricade volunteers man important intersections on the festival grounds to ensure that artists are driving in the correct direction and not entering streets the wrong way.  This keeps the traffic flowing smoothly at startup and shutdown.

Roving Security: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Roving volunteers walk the festival grounds, carrying a two-way radio.  These volunteers are the “eyes and ears” on the ground.  If an accident, illness, or situation is observed, the roving volunteer notifies the command center via two-way radio, who will then notify the appropriate individuals to take care of the situation.  While roving, these Security Team members can shop, eat, and listen to music, as long as they continue to be on the lookout for any situation that needs further attention.

Security Booth Duty:  9:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Security booth team members are stationed in the festival security command center tent on Adams St. These individuals will sign out golf carts and radios to festival volunteers.  Security booth team members also may be asked to drive golf carts to deliver goods or visitors when necessary.

Please consider volunteering for the 2022 CHAF Security Team.

You’ll meet wonderful neighbors and will have a great time.  If interested, please email Christina at [email protected], indicating the following:

  • Desired day (Saturday or Sunday or both)
  • Desired time (morning/afternoon)
  • Desired position (barricade/roving/booth)
  • T-shirt size
