Carrie Beagle - West Edge Restaurant

Owner Carrie Beagle at the longest bar in Rochester!

West Edge Restaurant is already familiar to many Corn Hill residents, and for good reason. This month the riverside establishment celebrates its second anniversary! Owner Carrie Beagle, a former Corn Hill resident, purchased the restaurant, previously known as Tap and Table, as “a dream come true.”

Carrie has many years’ experience in the food industry, beginning at age 16 at Penfield Country Club. She worked for five years at Mario’s where she learned the intricacies of serving brunch, and spent ten years as director of Food and Beverages at the former Marriott Hotel in Henrietta. After leaving that position she was offered other prestigious jobs, including one at a resort in Vermont. But she really wanted to stay in Rochester, so when the site at West Edge became available, she decided to go for it. It had everything she wanted – outdoor seating, a large bar/lounge area, excellent facilities, and a location in a growing, vibrant downtown area, and she got to be her own boss! She has no regrets about her decision.

West Edge cuisine has been described as “inventive American” by the Democrat & Chronicle. It offers special plates like tenderloin sliders and calamari, 3-course meals, light lunches, dramatic salads, or just beer and popcorn (they have an outstanding seasoned popcorn!), as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch. All food is fresh, never frozen. “We don’t even have a freezer!” Among Carrie’s favorites: duck breast and the seafood cocktail, which includes langostino.
The outdoor patio, the largest in Rochester, overlooks the river and accommodates over 120, and pets are allowed on the patio. Carrie calls it “Puppies on the Patio.”

The fifty-foot bar, the longest one in Rochester, offers traditional cocktails, local beers including craft beers, and over 12 draughts. On Wednesdays, all draft beers are $3 – any size, no exceptions. West Edge offers corkage-free Tuesdays, where you can bring you own bottle of wine. In a special arrangement, Corn Hill Liquors offers a 15% discount on wines to take to West Edge.

Patio Brunch West Edge RestaurantWest Edge is available for private parties, showers and other special events. (Corn Hill Neighbors held their Earth Day event here.) During the Corn Hill Arts Festival, they will be featuring daily specials and have extended hours, opening early for Saturday and Sunday brunch.

Carrie looks forward to a bright future in Corn Hill. She is at West Edge every day and loves meeting the neighbors and their pets. “Building community is important,” Carrie says. She hopes to work with other community businesses and restaurants, and would like to see an association formed that will help support each other.

Stop in and say “hi” and enjoy the ambiance of Corn Hill’s (and Rochester’s) fine riverside dining!
