Would you like to sit by the Genesee River in a comfy chair that you made possible?
CHNA is seeking donations to add more Adirondack Chairs along the riverfront. Last year, Corn Hill residents donated funds and painted the five chairs we now have on the river.
Please consider arranging to have your family, business or perhaps a group of neighbors make a donation for a chair. A $100 donation covers the cost of a chair and paint. We are working with the Sector 4 CDC and through them it will be possible to make a tax-deductible donation. For information on how to donate, please email the office at [email protected] . If you provide a phone number, “Chair Chief” Henry McCartney will be happy to chat with you.
We also want our riverfront to be a better place to sit and also an improved place, to stroll, to picnic, perhaps canoe and much more. CHNAs Vision Committee is spearheading an effort to implement the 2012 Corn Hill Charrette’s riverfront recommendations. We are working with the City on a planning study, starting this Spring, to assess the river wall and to create a plan to add amenities along the river. The wall is owned by the New York State Canal Corporation and while funding has not yet been identified, this study will place a spotlight on the need to replace this crumbling wall and improve our riverfront. So please also let the office know if you are interested in becoming involved in this effort.
