Community Forum on Housing Challenges in Rochester

October 13 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Saturday, October 13, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

The Church of St. Luke and St. Simon Cyrene will host a community forum on housing problems in the City of Rochester including homelessness, housing instability, affordable housing shortages, substandard housing and pervasive poverty.

A presenting panel will include Sister Grace from the House of Mercy, representatives from the Homeless Union and the City Wide Tenants Union and Harry Murray, Ph.D. from Nazareth College.

The forum will provide an opportunity for members of the Greater Rochester Community to learn more about the various housing issues facing vulnerable Rochester individuals and families.

We will hear from people who work directly with those affected such Catholic Worker James Murphy and Activist Liz McGriff. We will also hear from members of the community who must deal with these issues on a daily basis.

Our hope is that with a better awareness and understanding of these problems we can become agents of change in may ways large and small. This will likely be the first of two Forums on this topic.

Please join us at the Church of St. Luke and Simon Cyrene, 17 S. Fitzhugh Street, Rochester 14614.

RSVP to [email protected] is appreciated but not required

Parking is available in the lot next to the church and in the large, unpaved lot behind the church which can be accessed from Broad Street.
